FREE 'Pick Up and Play' Workshop with Lauren Ireland
Hands-on exploration of Holbein Acrylic Paints, Legion Paper and General Products

Workshop Outline
This is a FREE 'pick up and play' style workshop where students will be given a brief history of each company and the products they will be testing. They will not be instructed on how to paint or draw a particular subject. Instead, this workshop allows students to try products that they may not be familiar with and get tips on how they can be used. It's a fun way to try quality art materials and find what might work best for each person's style of art without any expectation of creating a completed piece of artwork. Coffee and a morning treat will be provided.
Bonus!
Since I worked in the art supply retail industry for a few years, students will also be provided with some helpful tips on choosing the right art tools and basic information that can help make their creative process more productive and enjoyable.
  • Each student will be provided with take-home samples of Legion Papers and General Pencil drawing tools to test.
  • Students will share a variety of Holbein acrylic paints to test during the workshop.
  • Students will share mediums to test with the paints.
  • Instructor will provide paint brushes for each student that are returned at the end of the workshop.
  • Instructor will provide Holbein take-home color charts and helpful product information for students.
What to bring to the workshop:
Water container, paper towels, aprons, sketchbook/notebook, reference photos; or other materials that are solely at the student's discretion for acrylic painting.
Instructor Background
I was born in Glenside, PA but my family chose to move to Naples in 1983. I grew up spending time outdoors doing all the FL things and also discovered my love of making art at a young age. After attending Barron Collier High School, I came up to Sarasota to attend Ringing College of Art and Design, graduating with a BFA in illustration and have lived in the Sarasota/Bradenton area since then. I teach workshops and do commissioned art such as custom landscapes, pet portraits, illustrative pieces and work mostly in oils and watercolor. I have had the absolute pleasure of running the Holbein booth at the last 2 Florida Watercolor Society Convention & Tradeshows wich has been a fun opportunity to meet artists and demonstrate Holbein's awesome product lines.
