show your style as you choose the elements and principles of design to be used in your painting.  Guided
exercises will be a part of the class as well as critique time each day.  Demonstration will be in acrylic, but

FEBRUARY THRU MARCH, EVERY MONDAY AFTERNOON, DRAWING TO PAINT, Time: 12:30 to 3:00,
Location: Open Paint Room. Instructor: Judy Ladd.  Cost $100.00 per month for members, non-members
$115.00 per month.  You may sign up one month at a time or for both months to assure yourself  a place in the
second month.

Course Format:  The format for the two month course is designed to allow members the opportunity to work with
one instructor over a two month period, one lesson each week. The program will  take you from project
development, through  completion,  with an early emphasis on drawing techniques.  Students will be able to
concentrate more fully in areas that they would like to strengthen in their work both through the opportunity to
practice techniques at home as well as have in-class group lessons, and one-on-one classroom help.
Watercolor is the chosen medium as it is felt that this will allow the greatest number of students the opportunity
to participate.

NEW COURSE DESCRIPTION  INFORMATION Re:  DRAWING TO PAINT CLASSES.  Judy Ladd has submitted
the following course outline to demonstrate the journey the students will take in this course.

“Our first month we will develop our drawing skills:
    A) Contour drawing
a)        Composition placement
b)        Sketching/open air sketching
c)        Value and shading

Our second month we will concentrate on:
a)        Color wheel and introduction to watercolors and palette
b)        Drawing steps to produce a painting/board prep
c)        Steps in production of a watercolor
d)        Watercolor painting/different techniques used in watercolor paintings

For any returning students, we will continue where you left off in our last class and take you to the next level.”

Note:  at our January 9th meeting Judy did a presentation of her course and indicated she is flexible in respect
to the medium you might want to use in this class, so don’t be afraid to sign up if you choose something other
than watercolor.  Judy will help you get “out of box”  and move you forward on your artistic journey.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS:

Classes will only be held if there are a sufficient number of students to confirm each class.  Please give serious consideration to
signing up and please sign up early.  The reason we ask this is because we need 5 signed up paid students two weeks ahead of
the class start date.  The artist is advised two weeks ahead of class that their class is a “go”, and it is at this time that the Art
League is committed to a contract with the Artist.  You may still sign-up for a class after the two week commitment date provided
there is space available, usually there is a maximum of 15 students per class, however each teacher has the option to limit their
class at their discretion.  If you can, please pay for classes when you sign-up.  At the latest, please pay for class on the Monday
prior to class, and not on the Monday of class.

SIGN-UP FOR ALL CLASSES: May be done at Open Paint, on Monday mornings at the Estero Community Center or send a cheque
to Raquel Ubarri, Treasurer EAL, P.O. Box 864, Estero, Fl 33928.  On the check be sure to indicate which class you want to take.
Please keep your receipt and bring it to class.   Please also be aware that if you attend one day of any class there are no refunds,
unless by application to the Board of Directors for consideration of extenuating circumstances.

Non-Members:  Non-members are welcome to participate in our classes.  In addition to the regular fee an up-charge of $15 is
added to each class.

OPEN PAINT:  continues in the Estero Community Center as usual.  Monday 9:00 to 12:00.  For our new members, Open Paint
means just that,  come with your own project and do your own thing as you enjoy the fellowship of other members.
